Bikini Blitz & Silver Linings….
Traveling back to Florida I browsed the magazine isle for something to read. It is no surprise that when I saw the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, I had to get it.
I knew that our bikinis would not be featured in the magazine, because I would have heard something about it….but that didn’t stop me from looking.
I find it interesting to see what bikinis they choose, where the market is going…. how I feel we stack up. One thing I have noticed about the past 3-4 years of seeing the Swimsuit issue is that they seem to be wearing less and less swimwear all together. I know it is tantalizing to show girls with only a bottom on, and it certainly can sell extra magazines but it makes me wonder, perhaps the bikinis they are choosing are just not that sexy.
Why get a magazine that is supposed to be a “swimsuit issue” and not showcase any swimsuits. Not to mention the dozen or so photos where the girls are simply body painted!!!! Don’t get me wrong, they are hot photos…. I feel in a way the editors at Sports Illustrated realize that having less is more. They are looking for itty bitty bikinis that hug the models curves and totally showcase their bodies… HELLO – that is what TeenyB is all about. Perhaps next year they will realize that they need to be putting their models in more of OUR suits!! That will really make the magazine fly off the shelf!
Another thing I look at while browsing the issue is the photography itself. Being an admirer of an art form that I personally love is always fun for me. I look at the awesome locations they get to shoot at and fantasize about being that big one day. I look at the accessories they use, and angles, lighting, etc. Perhaps I am biased, but I think our photos are just as awesome as theirs.
Mind you, having bombshells like Brooklyn Decker rocking your bikini certainly makes a photo more likable, our models are equally hot – and most importantly everyday people!
One of the things I love about some of our models is that they do not even model full time! THAT is very special!
In any case, Sports Illustrated makes most of their money on this one issue alone and that is an amazing thought.
While we were not featured in the magazine this year, we did get the opportunity to give our swimwear away in the gift bags for all the models that participated for the Sports Illustrated Shoot. Our suits may still be too hot for the printed issue itself, but I hope the models will love wearing our bikinis in their free time!
