In 1946 a french desingner Louis Rec’ard designed the first two piece swimsuit. Two pieces of triangular shaped cloths and botttom then hired a nude dancer named Micheline Bernardini which wore in a fashion show in Paris.

    That is fantastic, and as the story continues, Bikinis were actually named after Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The somewhat obscure islands that upon evacuation of the the Micronesian natives, becomes the fourth location of an atomic bomb explosion on Earth.

    Just weeks after this Bikini Atoll Nuclear Blast event (which was aired on television for the world to watch) Louis Reard introduces, “Bikini–smaller than the smallest bathing suit in the world.”
